I've had the same problem for years now. Each time it's either blamed
on WebKit styles or "it will be fixed in the next major version". But
with 1.2, the problem is still here. I'm sick of it and want to help
to get this fixed :)

I've been using Smoke all along and I just rebooted and without a
single Growl notification, memory usage was at 57.6 MB. I just
rebooted again and memory usage is at 27.8 MB. Both are unacceptably
high, but both are just mere minutes after booting. It easily grows
beyond 100 MB (I don't think I've ever seen 200 MB) after a couple of
hours. These numbers are all Real Memory, not Virtual Memory.

Can a Growl developer please write a comprehensive post about:
1) why WebKit styles are supposedly memory hogs
2) what the problems/challenges are in getting memory usage low
3) how Growl users can help in getting this problem fixed.

Such a post would reduce the helplessness of people who are
experiencing this problem and have been for a very long time (such as
myself). At the same time, you could always refer to that post instead
of getting this question asked over and over again.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Wim Leers
