The instructions I got before were

But I wonder if we are talking about the same thing. I am an end-user, not a 
developer. You mention preference changes but I am not aware of any preference 
that allows me to disable logging which is why I posted this question in the 
first place.

Anyway, when I did as instructed, the logging did not change.
