Currently, it's because the current version of Dropbox is old.

When 1.0 comes out soon, it'll be because they install a modified version of 
the old version. (Unless they change course as a result of our complaints that 
this is a bad idea, which seems unlikely at this point.)

No, they really don't. If they promoted Growl well, we wouldn't get several 
angry email messages a month for it.

It should Just Work. If Skype shows up in the Growl preference pane, then it 
should indeed be working.

Make sure Skype's new-chat (I don't know exactly what they call it) 
notification is enabled in the Growl prefpane.
