Alright, so try this. Go to launchpad, and in launchpad you will see Growl.
Click and hold Growl until it shakes. You will see an X button, click that
to remove Growl.

Once you remove Growl, make sure that Growl 1.2.2 is not in system
preferences. If it is, then use the Growl uninstaller on our downloads page
here: http://growl.info/downloads

Once all of this is done, you can go back to the app store and download
Growl again. It'll seem like you are paying for it, but will let you know
that you already purchased Growl, and ask if you want to download it again
for free, just like the iOS app store does. :)
