I purchased version 1.3. Downloaded it. The installer launched (according to the App Store) and immediately indicated it was installed. Launchpad showed a new app called "GrowlHelperApp". System preferences shows that 1.2.2 is still installed.
Nothing else happened. So I closed App Store, and reopened, and suddenly a Growl 1.3 screen pops up and notifies me that I need to download an uninstall app (seriously, come on guys, can't you uninstall your own software without requiring me to download and run an app). But I digress. Anyway, I did that, and ran the uninstaller. It didn't work, I presume because I had my System Preferences open. So I closed that and ran it again. Now, Growl 1.2.x preference pane is gone. Good deal. But there is no Growl 1.3 preference pane. So I go back into App Store, and instead of it reporting that Growl 1.3 is installed, it gives me the option to install. So I do that. And I'm presented with the same Growl 1.3 window, this time without the prompt to uninstall. Now, when I look at LaunchPad, GrowlHelperApp has a question mark over it, and there is now an app called Growl. I click that, and I'm shown the preferences for Growl. But none of my apps work with it. And there is no preference pane for Growl. Should there be one? Growl definitely worked better before you asked me to pay for it. I'd kind of like it to be the other way around. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
