Yes. Growl 1.3 is horribly broken.

I recommend seeking a refund from Apple and backing out to the older
release, which works far better.

The developers did not test the upgrade mechanism well and altered
the interface between growl and applications (claiming it is the
fault of app developers for not having all upgraded to the new and
unreleased framework in advance), and failed to release any of the
auxiliary software like the itunes growl addon at the same time. The
code is also buggy and crashes for many people. They have also
(apparently) taken the code closed source (at least for now) so no
one can try to fix the problems on their own and release fixed
versions outside of the Growl developers themselves.

They have generally posted messages here explaining that they did
their best, it is not their fault, and besides why are we complaining.

I've been less than impressed by this response but it is all too
human to deny that one has done something wrong rather than to admit
it and try to move on.

Anyway, if you read this list for a day or two, or look at the
archives, you'll find complaints by the bucketload, along with half
hearted statements to the effect that they don't think they could
have done any better.
