> that's a joke right? So when someone sends me a message on trillian and I get > no growl notification even though trillian is set up to notify me via growl, > growl should do nothing? It's a pathetic application.
Don't get so stressed! Whatever's going wrong with your specific install can be found and worked through; it's not the end of the world. :) As far as Trillian goes, it will generate Growl notifications for messages only when you aren't actively focused on a specific conversation (as there's no point to generate a bunch of messages for what you're already seeing). However, if Trillian is not showing up in the Applications tab of Growl at all, then I suspect something bigger is wrong; if Growl is not registering Trillian, then it's not going to display the notifications. What I'd recommend trying next would be downloading growlnotify from the website -- http://growl.info/downloads -- and then using it from Terminal to test. Once growlnotify is installed, open Terminal and type: growlnotify -m "This is a test." If that works, then something's wrong on Trillian's side (and I can help you diagnose that off-list). If that doesn't work, then something's not right with your Growl install. From what I've seen on the list, there's been a couple times when the App Store has installed Growl oddly; if growlnotify doesn't work, you might want to try quitting Growl, uninstalling it (from LaunchPad), then reinstalling it (from the App Store) and starting it back up to see if it works after that. Hope that helps!
