Before you invariably get blocked, let's clear a few things up.

1. I don't like the Google Groups either. But it's where the developers and 
maintainers are, so I come and check on it.
2. On "slack is for companies"--implying that the "average developer" won't 
join a slack channel? That's odd, considering I interface with many 
"average developers" across slack channels, so I somehow doubt that THE 
average developer uses Discord and nothing else.
3. I am 40--and I can't stand when people say "that's how we've always done 
it". And for the record, no one has said that in this thread.
4. Netiquette is treating people fairly--your ends don't justify the means.
5. There is real-time communication available--it's just not what YOU want.

If you really want to push the need for change, then you wouldn't have a 
problem explaining why. You offered a possible reason (most average 
developers use it), and I alone have evidence to the contrary. You said 
that it's not fast enough--what is the average response time in this group? 
You think gitter doesn't have a fast enough response time?--this one is 
probably actionable IF the data showed it was true.

If you really want to prove your point, then SHOW why.
