You're right of course, but we keep plugging away at it :-)

Recall that VOMS now has a SAML interface.  There are grids in Europe
that are consuming SAML issued by VOMS.  Globus grids, on the other
hand, can't leverage this new feature of VOMS.  Even GridShib (as it
stands today) won't help.

My point is that the handwriting is on the wall but we're not seeing
it.  SAML producers are springing up like mushrooms.  We need to think
of ways to leverage this new type of security token.
