I wasn't rude. I just happened to be pretty direct. Deal with it.

I'm not on IRC. Obtaining my ICQ number is trivial. I explained several
times. I can't get any slower.

No, they just must have somewhat recent versions. The API of autoconf and
automake has been stable since a year. Besides, updating to the most recent
version is trivial considering the lack of dependencies and the neglectable
amout of disc space required. On the other hand, for Gtk-Gnutella a version
of metaconfig is required that can only be obtained from the Gtk-Gnutella
authors and whose release date can be counted in days.

Of course, the fact that the file was called configure.in and not
configure.ac showed that the inevitable thing must have happened: someone
using autoconf 2.13 (4.5 years old) and someone autoconf 2.57. The resulting
problems are imminent, the trivial fix of requiring a reasonable recent
version is obvious, yet has not been applied.

> It's not acceptable to update the tools of everybody each six months,

It's not "each six months", it's just more than each 5 years. You don't
expect Netscape 4 to render xhtml/css 2 correctly as well, do you?

> The other reasons were explain here several times.

I couldn't find anything on the archive. Might have to do with the amount of
spam in it... Now that your most important reason has been refuted, feel
free to have any better argument, I'll be glad to reveal it as a
non-argument as well.
