OK, try with r17153. The problem was that we were lying to the compiler in lib/parse.h, and that is an unforgivable sin! So the compiler was optimizing some tests away because we told it that the parameters could not be NULL, whereas we were passing NULL... Thanks to Jasen Betts for finding this one.
