I have to agree with Mark on this. There is a clear relationship between
power and reliablility. In all cases I can think of, increasing
performance beyond factory specifications reduces the life of the engine.
Free breathing air filters flow more dirt, reducing the life of the motor.
Hot cams and more powerful fuel/air explosions put more stress on the
pistons, rods, crankshaft, transmission, clutch, etc.

If you want really high miles, leave the motor alone, in my not so humble
opinion.
