I would have to agree about the value added of doing this. I lifted my
dismounted front wheel - without the tire - and it really isn't very heavy
in comparison to the weight of the GTS. I'm sure that there has been some
significant engineering and testing put into this piece of metal.

I would also say it depends on how it looks, I don't think I've seen a good
looking machined billet wheel...Also I hate to be totally negative about it
but I'd be very sceptical about being a test pilot for a new, lighter than
stock, custom wheel unless they could show me the Finite Element design
analysis and/or the records of a few thousand hours of fatigue

It would depend on cost & weight. I'm assuming the point to this exercise
is to reduce the front wheel unsprung weight. Switching from an aluminum
casting to a billet aluminum wheel should allow a pretty good weight loss
with equivalent strength and toughness.
