Brandon, your statement is correct but I don't think it holds true for the
GTS. The biggest restriction on this bike (USA models at least) is the
catalytic converter not the cans. I ran my GTS without a can with absolutely
no change in surging behavior. I tested a 93 and 94 ECUs, tweaked the TPS
even while hopping on my left leg, with no real results. The only thing I
have not tried is re-synching the throttle bodies. That will be next and I
will post results.
