What I was trying to say that GTS probably could've been much faster in
turns if the pegs were placed higher. I do understand that most people
might not want that. And no, I'm not buying an R1. My passengers
want off VFR rather quickly. With R1 passenger "accomodations"
I might not have them (passengers) for a second ride.
Anyone willing to argue that R1 passenger seat is better than VFR seat?
The comment about GTS seating position from the pillions was that it's more
comfortable than on VFR,
but less comfortable than on good ole ZX900 (circa 84).
My problem with ZX was that I would regularly grind the Yosh in right turns because of
the lower
passenger pegs placement (which is exactly why it
had more comfortable passenger seating position) :-((((

You mean the passenger pegs? ;-))) Just kidding.

Hmm, I sold GTS s while ago (had nothing to do with the ground clearance though. I was
just never
quite comfortable with it. Probably
just too much weight and displacement for my ~35k miles / 4 years of
experience. And I was afraid to crash this beauty.
Lets just say the bike was a bit over my head).
But it's kind of strange if the shock would've been gone at 12k, don't you think? I've
got it from
Chris with a mere 9200 miles on the clock.
But I do see your point that the stiffer rear shock might have solved
the problem. Since I haven't been riding long enough to wear out any
shocks on any bikes the thought has just never crossed my mind.
Btw I once gave a lift to a guy who had some problem with his bike.
He was probably close to 200lbs. I'm around 150.
There was no sign of the rear shock bottoming out.
I think my rear shock was ok.
Lets just say that selling GTS was a confidence builder for me:
the first bike ever that I have sold (and pretty much in the same prestine
condition as I've bought it) as opposed to have trashed.
So far the history of my riding is:
ZX900: bought at 20k -> totalled at 37k (crashed 14 times on this one)
VFR750: bought at 34.5k -> currently has 49k, a lot of plastic is gone
(crashed only two times so far in two years, knock on wood)
GTS1000: bought at 9250 -> sold at 12500.
I'm drooling over FJR, but then I think that it's might be a bit too
much for me to handle. That is if we ever get it in the US...
Anyhow, every mailing list need a squid ;-)
