After heeding advice from the list, I have found that bleeding the front
brake with the caliper removed from front suspension and hung up as high as
you can get it with the bleed nipple at the top makes all the difference.
The sponginess comes back within a year but bleeding it again restores the
solid feel. Brake bleeds every 6 months are probably a good idea anyway with
the susceptible ABS system on the GTS. Don't forget to "excercise" the ABS
hydraulic unit during bleeding. I can tell you (from experience) that
bleeding the front brake with the caliper in situ does not achieve the same
result.

Cheers Joe.

On my GTS the lever would pull right back to the bar .
The cause was worn caliper seals which would grab the pistons when the brake
was applied and pull them further back into the caliper body , which would
then mean the lever had to be pulled back further before the pads would
contact the disc.My old seals looked ok , but when i changed them the brake
was back to normal .
