I'm doing it right now , it took me 1.5 hours to strip it right down , seat
, side panels , mud guard , rear wheel , end can , lower cowling , shock ,
swing arm , jack right hand side of bike , remove right hand side of main
stand ( bracket ) , linkage .

I did the mod John Davies sent into the list some time ago , see below.

>For the future I have drilled a 24mm hole in the RHS >centre stand bracket
(needs to be done off the bike on >a pillar drill - this is a big hole
through two layers). This >gives more than adequate clearance for the 21mm
dia >bolt head, and now allows me to get access to the relay >arm bearings
(for yearly regreasing, etc) merely by >raising the bike up in on the centre
stand.

I managed to do the mod with an electric drill , round file , and plenty of
elbow grease ( means hard work ).
Bracket on the bench , in vice .
I have measured the bracket hole centre that i drilled so others can do the
mod . But will have to draw it up on the computer first then send drawing
off list to who ever wants it .
Hole made in bracket was approx 22mm.
Well worth doing the mod , it's the last time i have to take the bracket off
to do the linkages .

You can get round doing the mod by , supporting the right hand side ( using
a trolley jack ) on the exhaust box lug ( the one with the rubber bush in
it ).
Then remove only the right hand centre stand bracket to release the linkage
bolt .
I didn't remove the exhaust box in order to remove the upper centre stand
bracket bolt as i don't have the standard box , you'll probably have to
remove the 2 rear exhaust box bolts , to allow some movement on the standard
box , and then just wiggle the bracket bolt out .
The bike remains on the centre stand when doing this , supported by the left
hand bracket and the jack on the right hand side .
