Nick,
I did mine several years back. You have to completely disassemble the
linkage and remove from the bike in order to drill and tap holes for the
zirk/ grease fittings.
This is a good time to check your swing arm bearings and shims.
Another recent, great suggestion I saw was to machine hole in the
mounting plate for the center stand so you don't have to remove it in
the future to get that one linkage bolt out.
You should also get a variety of fittings - straight, 45, 90 - and check
carefully alignment/ access for location of fittings before you
disassemble and even while reassembling. It is also necessary to have a
flexible hose on your grease gun.
I only did the ones with plain bearings.
It doesn't accomplish anything to do the needle/ roller bearings, since
you would only be introducing grease to the outside case of the needle
bearing, which isn't a wear surface or where you need the grease. These
typically hold grease much longer than the plain bearings and just like
car wheel bearings, the only way to grease them is to remove and pack
the grease in by hand.
