It occurs to me that if heat were a problem inherent on the GTS in relation
to coils failing, do you think Pete would be the first to notice? Probability
is against that. If it were a design flaw, it would show up by now. Although
several other lesser designs may have had problems with this, obviously the
GTS is not one of them. There are enough people on the list with much more
milage than he has on his, so surely it would have surfaced by now. Certainly
coils can be susceptible to heat failure with age, but just because your
parallel in line four cylinder horizontally opposed V8 moto whatever did it
does not make it so on the GTS. :) It seems a lot of energy is expended in
the wrong direction attempting to diagnose problems. A much higher
probability is carefully considering the immediate past of the motorcycle.
Has service work been done on it? Has it been disassembled for cleaning? Has
it recently been gassed up? More often than not problems that appear
instantly can be traced to such occurrences.
