Thanks for the reply Bob. I never meant to imply that this
is a inherent problem to the GTS - only a problem with
mine. As I stated earlier, I'm groping for possible problem
with my bike - perhaps a faulty coil, fuel pump, etc. Just
curious if anyone else's bike has exhibited this behavior.
Immediate past of my motorcycle:
Stored in motorcycle shed over the winter - When taken out
for bikeweek, I notice this problem. Assumed that perhaps
the fuel could have some moisture - added a small amount of
heat and burned the tank down to the point that it was on
vapors. Refilled and the problem seemed to disappear -- for
the most part after some mileage. Went to bike week - bike
ran great on the COLD trips between Orlando and Daytona -
once in Daytona, sitting in traffic, the bike would being to
miss. As the period of time in traffic increased, so did
the misses. After a refill, the problem vanished -- but I
burned that tank with out any idle time (that is, I was on
the interstate the whole time). Since then, it seems that
the bike will miss when hot and low on gas... trips in to
work in the morning when there's no traffic and it cool... I
have no misses... ride home when I'm in traffic... missses.
Servicing: Regular oil changes, checked the air cleaner for
possible rodent life, changed out the brake fluid, and last
year swapped out the TPS. I've replaced my plugs since this
started to occur and it had no effect. The bike has just
over 11,000 miles. I have it in Diag mode right now, but
it doesn't seem to detect the misses.
I have not disassembled it yet (besides swapping the plugs)
- I was hoping for some leads - items to take a look at
before I pull the plastic off again.
It has been gassed up - full take of premium gas (yeah, I
know it's not necessary, but I've been running it hoping it
would help - Also dumped in a little bit of injector cleaner
-- although I doubt that stuff works).
Note: this isn't a constant problem - just an occasional
hiccup. It's an annoyance that I'd really like to correct.
