What exactly was your point behind your comment "It 'CLEARLY STATES' that
this procedure is ONLY necessary when the throttle
 bodies have been disassembled"?

I am quoting the service manual, without anything omitted. It does explain
how to sync the butterflies, as you stated, where you stated, however, you
omitted the "NOTE:" that immediately preceded the instructions you were
quoting. The "CLEARLY STATES" was using your words. The exact words from the
service manual are "Synchronization is only required if the throttle body has
been disassembled." Then it goes on to describe how to do it if you have
disassembled them. However, if you refer to Chapter 3 of the service manual,
which is the Periodic Inspection and Adjustment section, it refers to
synchronizing the intake air pressure, by use of the air screws and not the
butterfly adjustments. I also recall very clearly that Yamaha's position on
the correct way to sync this system was by use of the air screws, not the
butterflies. They stressed this point on several occasions, starting with the
dealer training on the GTS when it first came out. My references are the
Yamaha service manual and Yamaha Motor Corp US service department. It is not
opinion on my part. Suggesting that the proper way to sync the injectors by
using the butterfly adjusters like conventional carbs is not based on similar
