Favorite rear wheel/sprocket alignment method

Hey all,

Having finally come to the conclusion that my knackered chain was due to a
mis-aligned wheel, I have to ask: What method to y'all use to align the
rear wheel? The marks on the swingarm are not precise enough, apparently.

Hints that don't involve mucho dinero are prefered. :-)
