That's very interesting Pete and since I thought at one time of a Thunderace
swap, of particular interest to me.
I have heard of the YZF750 six speeders giving out under race conditions
when swapped into tuned YZF1000's.
Nice to see you're still posting.

Subject: engine rebuild update
Good day to everyone. Well I'm finally under way with the rebuild. The
engine is out, dissassembled etc. Presently I'm in the process of
identifying the differences between the GTS & FZR mills. So far I've found
that although the 6 speed tranny fits right into the parameters of the GTS
crankcase, not all is well. The GTS has more metal in the output shaft side.
It uses a much thicker bearing , a longer output shaft among other little
things . Some special machining is required to make it right. This should be
all done by the end of the day. Another interesting area of difference is
the cylinder head. The valves are definitely not the same angle & the GTS
has a smaller combustion chamber. Ok , that's it for now. More to come.
