I run 87 octane in any vehicle that doesn't ping. If it pings, it gets 89.
If it keeps pinging, it gets 97. If it keeps pinging, it gets fixed. :-)
Only my Toyota Supra turbo needs 97 octane (which, ironically, has less
burning power than 87 octane, octane inhibits the combustion). I use the
money I save on premium gas to buy chains and sprokets. :-)
