Well you would have thought yesterday was Friday the 13th for me. Riding
home from work down the back roads at about 50mph (rather tame on this road
speed limit 45) I notice a big buick coming out of a business park moving
pretty quickly on my left. Yep, a "blue hair" at the wheel and she looks my
way but does a slow and go at her stop sign. Then of course the inevitable,
she then computes there was something on coming and proceeds to hit the
brakes coming to a stop right in front of me! Well I sort of saw it coming
but still distances were slim, Big handful of front brake and stomp the rear
and the GTS comes to a miraculous stop with no fuss about 2 feet from the
buick. The "blue hair" then proceeds to drive off like "what did I do
something wrong?" type look and I proceed on home uneventfully. The rear abs
definitely kicked in big time, I didn't seem to get the front abs actuating
even with the big "panic" grab but it sure seems like I stopped in about 20
feet, big time negative G's. I think if I'd been on most any other bike I
would have a) done my best Superman imatation over the hood of the buick, or
b) locked up the brakes and dumped the bike. Neither of course happened due
to some amazing brakes. GTS - 1 Cage - 0 (thank goodness).
