Well, I just picked up my GTS from the shop and I'm $600 dollars lighter,
but I feel pretty good despite. I told the head mechanic to take his time
and make sure the valves were right and balance the throttle bodies. I told
him it needed to be ready for the up coming Iron Butt and capable of doing
13,000 miles in 11 days....not that I would be. I asked him to write down
what he found, hoping and make him honest. I was a little worried because I
had pushed it further than I wanted in getting in some last minute rides and
had 36,000 on it. This was the first time the valves were checked.

bottom line...all valves were still within specs. The exhaust were getting
closest to needing new shims. The mechanic said the valve train looked like
it had barely been used. One throttle body needed a tweak. Let's hear it
the GTS engine, for Mobil 1, and helping the economy..:>)

I had some oil blow by in the air box from over filling one time when the
oil light came on. The rubber gaskets around the air box were affected by
the oil and need to be replaced. Other than that is it ready to
ride........after, new shocks, tires, brake pads, brake lines, chain,
sprockets, oil change, and lubricating the front and rear suspension....:>)
