It's more than marketing. While I agree with much of what
you said in your message about most of the people that buy
Harleys (people that are out for image), there are many of
US that enjoy the ride. I have an Excelsior Henderson Super
X and a 1946 Harley Flathead. The ride these bikes give are
as different from the GTS as my dirt bike is different from
a my Goldwing. Is one better than another? Depends on
what you're doing. But when "cruising" in town, I love the
feel the excelsior gives, the riding position, the fact that
I'm in the wind, the low end torque, and the fact that it's
a babe magnet. Would I own a cruiser rather than my GTS?
Nope, but I live where the roads are twisty. But the
bottom line, until you have actually taken one for a ride
and experienced it, it's tough to understand - but there no
pretending, I do enjoy it (plus the smooth out when they run
at more than 1000 rpm)
