Hi Rob;
A little search turned up;
http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcdirt/dirtbike.html
which is dealing more with trail riding; it's hard to find stuff not just
race-related.

Honda had a 200 I think that was a sort of street legal trials type. You
probably should have lights to get back late. Does anybody still make the 'fat
wheel' two-wheelers? (no, Rokon is a bit slow ;-)

Do you use quads? I do environmental work on pipeline projects and where most
of the fellows get a 300 Honda etc. I wanted a bit more fun and got a 500
Suzuki; 4wd, independant rear but with a linked solid rear axle; 4-valve water
cooled 500 and the weight is within 10-20lbs of the 300; it's a hoot. Mine is
a 5-speed; they also offer an automatic.

Don't forget gearing can be altered with a sprocket or two.
Have fun.
Rick
