I had my first ride on my newly aquired GTS today and here are my impressions.
Remember, I have been riding a '91 FJ1200 for the last 80,000 miles so it's
the only thing I have to compare it to.

The first impression was a bummer. The newly aguired bike had a dead battery.
It was not only dead, it was shot and here it is Sunday morning. I think when
you buy a bike, the battery should last longer than ONE day. Oh well. I found
one at Advance Auto and $70.00 later we were off and riding. The bike is
heaver than the FJ but this goes away as soon as you get rolling. It has a
great feel and I adapted to it in the first few miles. Handles like a much
smaller bike. Pulls from 2k right on past 125 mph with no trouble at all.
Definately needs 6th gear as I was trying to shift from 5th alot. The FJ may
have more "roll-on" power but it very close. Brakes are no comparison. I even
have the 6 pot calipers on my FJ but the GTS stops so much better. Even
thought the FJ has an Ohlins shock on the back and Ohlins springs in the
front, I was much more comfortable on the GTS. We did about a 100 miles just
goofing around thru the mountains with no back or leg pains like I have had.
We didn't put the fanny pack on it so Mona kept cautioning me not to blast off
without letting her know cause she might not be holding on at the time. We did
a bunch of twisties and the bike was awesome. I was getting real comfortable
by then so stepped the pace up a notch with no problem what so ever. Point it
where you want to go and it goes there. Counter-steering has a little
different feel but I got used to it right away. Definately an eye catcher
where ever you go. More as I ride it more.

Sighted; A beautiful blue GTS ripping around the back roads of southern West
Virginia. Does anyone know who it was? Oh my God, it's me.
