Damn, that front swingarm is scary!  You definately need to replace that
thing, you've got a lot of metal missing that was put there by Yamaha for
good reason.  Another option would be to find someone who's good--damn
good--at both welding and metalurgical science.  I've no doubt the swingarm
was heat treated originally, and if you have yours repaired, whoever does
the work will probably need to repeat that process and prevent distortion
(warping).  I'm a decent welder, but if this were my bike, I wouldn't even
touch the thing.  If insurance is invovled, just get a new one.

I've seen pipes made by Staintune that looked a lot like yours.
