The rest of the world uses KG or pounds...what's a "stone"?

How come the English seem to be even more archaic in their measuring systems
than we stupid Americans who refuse to go metric and join the rest of the
world?  I think the "inch" system stinks: you (editorially spoken, mind you)
ever tried to divide 3/32s in 1/2?  This is not a problem with metric
system, not to mention easier measurement of smaller dimensions.
