My understanding was that a blinking ABS light does not indicate a the ABS
shutting off, but merely the computer having identified a fault in the
system.  When my ABS light blinks, the ABS (rear at least) still works
normally.  When the ABS light comes on solid (not blinking), then the ABS
switches off, and I believe the service manual will confirm this.
