Types of mice (in unit) are erase head (like on IBM, Toshiba, etc) and
TouchPad (as on Dell, Gateway? and Compaq).

Personally I see no reason to buy a laptop that has Win2000 installed,
unless you need to protect it with password protection.

I would check out the www.pcworld.com and www.pcmag.com for laptop
suggestions, with the understanding that they are usually looking at the top
end, but I think both have ratings for home use machines. The only one I
HATE is Compaq and the reason is because they COMPAQ-ize everything. Also
their "restore" disk, wipes your hard drive before it re-installs
everything, so if your data is on your hard drive (C:) and the drive isn't
partitioned and you don't back everything up....well too bad. I would
check: Dell, Gateway, IBM, Micron, Toshiba and you might want to see if you
can find a used Panasonic Toughbook, which I'm told are pretty
indestructible but also very expensive at least new.
