I'm running PIAA's newest H4 bulb called "Extreme White" which is a step
up from the "Super white" bulb. Puts out a light intensity of 4150 K and
is definitely a lot more white, not as "yellow" as the previous one.
I bought them from CBT Imports, http://www.cbtimports.com/ or can get
them from Cal BMW/Triumph in Mt View. (next door to each other)
I actually have an extra bulb, never used, as I had to buy a two pack,
if the HID deal comes thru, that I would like to sell.

The HID set up I referred to is a group buy thru the LD riders from Baja
Designs.
http://www.bajadesigns.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?
It consists of a Controller (transformer), ignitor, bulb and H4 adapter
and draws about 50W. They have come down in price from the days of
$1,000 or more; now list for $355, the LDR group buy is for $280. We are
still looking for some more participants to get to the magic number if
anyone is interested.
Even though the GTS is a one bulb, one lamp bike (I never heard back
from the European contact who was to look into a two lamp version in one
of the European countries) and the HID bulb is a non filament bulb,
therefore no high/ low beam, I have talked to several of the riders that
have gone to them.
If aimed right, they have never been flashed and is like having a bright
beam on all the time. They swear the "shielded" HID bulb is as good as
or better than the bright beam of a "Super White" bulb as tested side by
side with two Triumph Tigers and in the second lamp of a dual lamp bike.

It is attractive to me, because when going from bright (along with my
aux Piaa's) to low beam it is really a difference, like some one turned
out the lights and it is important with all the night driving I do on
rally's.
The real "tits" setup for those with dual lamps is to use one shielded
bulb for low and an "unshielded" bulb in the other lamp socket for high.

Dave -

        Awesome ride report!

Btw, what "extreme white bulb" are you running in the headlight?

And, what HID set do you have on order?

Thanks again for most excellent ride report.
