Yes, it was Alan Macias. I do believe he sold it, as I saw what looked very much to be his bike at a CMSP/MSF meeting last spring. His green paint job had been repainted black (VERY sharp, I might add), and the VFR rear swingarm was pretty unmistakable.
For those thinking about doing the same transplant yourself, know that he'd said that the conversion cost as much as the GTS itself. And this was a long time ago, so he didn't get his GTS for a paltry $6000 USD like many have these days. I haven't spoken with Alan or Marilyn in some time. The last time I saw him he was walking easier without a cane, though he was far from "unaffected." He won't regain full use of all limbs, and I think his left arm has been removed. To say he was in a "serious accident" is a bigger understatement than I've heard in a LONG time. It's a testament to his and his wife Marilyn's strength and determination that he's alive at all. He's spent more time at that boundary between life and death that I think any of us ever will. I didn't mean to turn this into a safety lesson, but when I get riding faster than I think is reasonable, I think of Alan and roll off the throttle some. Which I'm sure would make him happy. -K > Alan Macais. He had a serious accident on his Ducati > (I think) a while back and might have let this > beautiful thing go.
