The 180/55 will fit and work just fine! Yep, a 180/55 from one manufacturer
will sometimes have a different profile than another. Bottom line is that
the 180/55 will slow your side to side transitions somewhat in comparison
with the 170/60, but it's very slight and probably imperceptible by some.

Last year I changed my front tire to the 120/70 and was pleasantly
impressed....thanks y'all.   But this year I was offered a Bridgestone 020
tire for free if I want it.  The only catch is that it's 180/55 instead of
the factory 170/60.  I compared them side by side in one of the local shops
yesterday and the 180 was less than 3/8" smaller in diameter than the 170.
Of course they were unmounted, so this could change.

I thought I'd see what my "all-knowing" GTS comrades know about changing
the
rear tire to this size.
