    That royally sucks. I am very sorry to hear about what happened.
Of course it could have happened to any of us.

    That having been said, I think it's possible it wasn't the pump, but
instead that the caliper failed by not releasing. I don't think the pump
can add pressure, but only release it. I could definitely be wrong.

     One possiblity: As the rotor wears down and the pads wear down
for the umpteenth time, it's probably possible that the piston(s) extend
past the point where they are supposed to go- thus the need to
occasionally
measure the width of the rotor with a micrometer. In such a case, they
may
not have wanted to go back into the caliper. This is something we are
supposed to check for, but honestly, I just replaced mine and didn't. I
think
I will!

     At any rate, I've tested my fronts all the time and It's good to
know they work.
However, I am not likely to test them again, unless it's on some kind of
machine
or using the test coupler.
