Rubber membrane roofing, also called single ply rubber roof, is EDPM and comes in .060" and .090" if I remember correctly. Firestone and Carlisle are two brands. Check the yellow pages to find someone who installs industrial roofs. You can probably get some scraps for free, or a couple of beers at most. The also use silicone but I believe that is a spray on.
You could try either a truck or farm tractor inner tube. They're probably heavy enough but I doubt the rubber will hold up in this application.
