Well, that is the traditional thinking.  However, Corvettes and many BMW's
come from the factory with synthetic oil.  According to Amsoil, this is not
true that you have to use dino juice for break in, but I would think that
using dino would lead to a faster break in....

For a new vehicle, I would use was came in the crankcase until the first oil
change.

The thing I've always heard about cars is that you *always* break them in
with the regular dino oil, then you can switch to synthetic after 5000
miles. (provided seals etc will work with synth).

I suppose that might hold true for bikes too!
