  Sorry to hear about your troubles George, it can be very disappointing to
  feel that you can't trust your bike to run.  Use the canyon dancer strap to
  tie the front end down via the handlebars, it will make sure nothing gets
  damaged (I wouldn't use the front sub-frame).  I don't even bother tying
  down the back end, but all you really need is to keep it from moving
  sideways.

  As for the bike not running.  That sounds similar to what happened to me
  last fall.  Does yours turn over, just not fire?  Mine wouldn't even respond
  to the key being turned on.  Sort of like that problem with the security
  system in the key.

  I rode up to a  restaurant and had a bite, when I came out about 2 hrs later
  she wouldn't do anything when I turned the key to start.  Checked the
  obvious kill switch, fuses, etc... but nothing.  I ended up trucking it home
  and spraying contact cleaner into the key hole and found that it worked -
  but only till I was on the road again, where it stopped running not far from
  home.  After tearing the front fairing off I found there was a short in the
  large plastic plug-together connection from the instruments to the wiring
  harness that actually melted the connector.  Once I replaced the connector
  (and cleaner all others thoroughly) I never had another problem.

  FYI.  I had cleaned all the connectors the previous winter with baking soda
  and water and once dry I used dielectric grease on them when re-assembled
  because the connections almost all had a white powdery build-up.  This time
  I noticed the connections looked dirty again and wasn't impressed with the
  grease, so I bought an expensive aerosol can of contact cleaner/protector,
  which seems to have worked much better.  I can get you the name of it if you
  like.
