George,
fuel pumps do fail - have had to replace in several cars, but not heard
of this being a problem with GTS. But fuel injection requires high
pressure delivered by the fuel pump.
Even if it is pumping, it may not be delivering enough pressure for the
injectors to "spray".
Hawke had an interesting theory about his pick up screen being plugged
up and creating a head pressure causing fuel starvation. The manual
should walk you thru diagnosis.
It is easily accessible by unbolting the big round flange on left side
of the tank and pulling out.
You might want to check the wires leading to the pump inside the tank. I
had a problem some time back with the fuel gauge sensor (the other
flange on the right side). I found that the wires wore thru the
insulation were they went thru a hole in the bracket that had very sharp
edges. It was very intermittent until I figured out that with a full
tank they were floating in the fuel keeping them from touching the
bracket, but when it got below half, they would touch the bracket and
shorted to ground.
All parts are readily available still thru Yamaha should you need any.
good luck,

Well guys, my GTS is back in the stable in one piece and since bike
shops
are not open on Monday there were no canyon dancers to be had (or any
other
dancers for that matter). I decided to tie down the front end from
either
side of the RAAD frame (Bob & Spee-dee-D I read your emails after the
fact),
I don't know what could be damaged but I guess I'll find out when I ride
her again).

As for the original problem, the fuel pump is no longer buzzing and as a

result no fuel is going to the EFI, no wonder she quit runing. The
problem
now is to figure out if it's the pump or another electrical component
causing the pump to shut down. I hear a relay activating and
deactivating but I am too tired to fool with it tonight so,

George is waving good night to all

BTW, thank you for all your good wishes!!!
