You've got yourselves an awesome motorcycle. This season is a done thing for me pretty much. So with 6500Km on the clock, I have this little update. This years upgardes include: Bagster tank bra\tank bag combo (excellent product). Factory shift kit for the tranny (excellent procuct). As you all know by now 1 of the little gadgets a Techlusion EFI box (excellent idea for a product but poorly executed). A softer seat for increased comfort (made an incredible difference in the buttox area) and a couple of other interesting items that are still going through the evaluation process. The Avon tires are pretty bald. They wore out well with no cupping or waves or any sort of abnormal wear whatsoever. They both wore out pretty even. They offer good traction & feedback but are not the most confident inspiring when the g forces rise & although they offer good braking there is a room for improvement. Every ride I took in twisties made these tires erase themselves noticeably as they always showed signs of the rubber melting & I was rubbing rubber of them with my palm. Overall these tires are better on bigger heavier bikes like ours & not so good on smaller bikes like my FJ. Conclusion: I wouldn't try them again. My break-in period is just about done but I haven't had the time to do any real good power tests. However everyone that tagged along on the few rides that I have taken are very blown away with this bike. A common remark is ''that thing is deceiving. '' The biggest surprise that I have had with bike is it's ability to produce serious speed whether on a straight line or in the curvy stuff. It's got tons of torque & it can do the twist with amazing momentum for a bike of this size. I've had the little supersports , the bigger sport tourers, the standards brag about their ability but when the going got onto the road the stories all changed. I've even taken a very experienced motorcycle instructor for a ride in tight twisties (this is what he specifically specified) for more than 200KM & he freaked at the speeds we were doing. He had his ZRX1100 pinned for most of that ride & claimed that it was the bare minimum required for that kind of riding. His friends showed up the day after to see what bike kicked his butt for a whole day. He apparantly needed a couple of days to recouperate. Well that's enough of that. Some upgrade for the next season will include some custom work on my OHLINS shocks so that I can tune them in a little more. More to come. Pete.
