Well, everyone, while doing some MSF work in a dealership late yesterday, I
borrowed the NADA book and checked prices on our fair mounts. Yikes! What
happened while I was in the kitchen fixing a ham sandwich???

Last time I looked, I recall the retail value as being up around $7500-$8500,
depending on which year, etc. The current official value? NADA (best source,
by the way) says $4000 wholesale, and about $5600 retail.

I guess we should be careful what we wish for. The whole time I've been on
this list, everyone has bemoaned the lack of alternatives in the sport-touring
market, and now we have them. Honda finally figured out to put factory luggage
(optional) on the VFR, and reworked the ST to boot. Kawasaki figured out that
some of us would like a 1200cc "sporty" bike but not necessarily a "sport" bike
(now they just need to figure out the concept of factory luggage). Yamaha
pissed and moaned all the way to the dealership sales counter that no one
wanted the FJR, only to find themselves doing a Harley imitation and selling
bikes for hard money when those bikes don't really exist.

And with alternatives on the market?? No one still wants our GTSs. Sigh.

This bike has held its value so well for most of a decade, I see no other
explanation.
