Carlo Ancelotti: We must believe we can beat Man Utd

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 02:47 PM PDT

Carlo Ancelotti is convinced Chelsea can overturn a 1-0 first-leg
deficit and defeat Manchester United to reach the Champions League
semi-finals.
Chelsea travel to Old Trafford for Tuesday night’s showdown trailing to
Wayne Rooney’s valuable away goal at Stamford Bridge last week.

But the Blues boss insists his side have what it takes to become only
the third team in the tournament’s history to produce an equivalent
turnaround.

“In Italy, we have a saying: ‘If you have two, then you next have
three’,” said Ancelotti. “They have to truly believe that we can win
there.

“I don’t know if they will be able to do this. But, at the start of the
game, you have to believe that you can win.”

The Italian coach has told his players that it will take a near perfect
display to overcome three-time European champions United at Old
Trafford.

“To win there, you have to do 100 per cent in everything,” he
continued. “And not just 100 per cent, but you have to use personality,
courage, you have to control the game.”

Misfiring £50m striker Fernando Torres is yet to score for the Blues
since joining in January, but his manager insists he is not concerned
by the Spaniard’s goal drought.

“He’s searching for a goal, but our aim is that he plays for the squad,
moves well for the team, and works for his team-mates,” said Ancelotti
of Torres.

“I never ask my strikers just to score goals. If he scores it’s good
for him and for Chelsea, but I’m just interested in the performance of
Chelsea. We will try to do something special.”
