Do you see how the > first commitment still conflicts with the policy for contributions, > which permits contributions from and exploratory analysis by project > members? I understand what you mean, but I don’t see it as a conflict. I see two different roles with associated responsibilities: that of a project member, and that of an occasional contributor. (I think Andreas (?) summarized it nicely but I can’t find the message.) > I do think that we should judge contributions on quality and merit > rather than discriminate based on the contributor. If we say that a > contribution is legally, ethically, socially, technically permitted > and acceptable then it should not matter who made the contribution. Sure. I think the perspective again is that of having different roles. This is not unlike, for instance, the different expectations we have from a maintainer or a committer compared to an occasional contributor. I hope that makes sense! Ludo’.
