I don´t know if I´d call them that though. It seems
rather unpoetic. What you could do is focus on some
aesthetic characteristic of the daishou - a glint of
color, some interesting historical tidbit, etc. and
name it accordingly.
The swords were forged by the resident spirit[1] of the forge of a small village (name yet to be determined). She was essentially the patron of the smith and of his family, and to a lesser extent of the village, as the smith's prosperity reflected on the village itself. Unfortunately she was more of a muse than a guardian spirit; one night the forge caught fire, and her poor command over fire was not enough to save it. The forge burned to the ground, as did the smith's home and many other homes in the village before the fire was extinguished. The smith was horribly burned, his family was ruined, and they never rebuilt the forge.

Considering your comment on melodrama... How suitable are longer names? I'm considering saying that after the fire, she renamed them Hopes Ashes and Prosperities Ashes, or something along those lines. If it's too wordy, then Ashes and Cinders might be better.

[1] All the PCs in this game will be 'homeless' small gods and guardian spirits.
