Delgado Multirole Legged Tractor v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL7)
Copyright 2002 by Onno Meyer
The Multirole Legged Tractor - generally known as the MULE - is used
in the early stages of the settlement of a world. It can carry several
hundred pounds of equipment across broken, roadless terrain.
The MULE has no driver. It can be programmed to follow a human scout
or another MULE and it can obey a few simple verbal commands. For more
difficult jobs, it can be remotely controlled by radio. The standard
model has a hitch to haul a cart, sled or plow and an open cargo hold.
Common upgrades are spotlights, swamp overshoes and flotation aids.
The vehicle uses GURPS Vehicles TL7 [second edition, first printing,
July '01 errata]. GURPS Traveller doesn't affect the technology rules,
but it influences the design decisions.

TUA RU20 "Mule" Infantry Support Robot v1.1 (TL9)
Copyright 2004 by Gareth Owen
The RU20 is a wheeled robotic vehicle that provides transport of
supplies and equipment for dismounted armoured infantry units. It is an
eight wheeled vehicle with a retractable turret. The Mule has two
internal cargo bays, intended to hold equipment and ammunition, these
bays are equipped with powercell recharging points allowing rCells to be
recharged from the Mule or from a parent vehicle's power system. Both
bays slide open to the left. Additionally along each side are open cargo
frames that will hold up to ten rucksacks interleaved with the wheels.
The flat top allows extra cargo to be carried, but is more often used
for transporting casualties. The Mule is programmed to hang around at
the back and stay out of trouble until summoned by a signal from one of
the squad members it supports.
The Mule has a reasonable set of sensors, communications and
navigation systems. These allow the Mule to navigate the battlefield and
provide dismounted infantry with navigation support and a means to
connect to battlefield lasercom nets. It can also act as a lasercom
relay station. The computer is provided with a self destruct charge in
case of capture. Other equipment includes a searchlight and two
cyberswarm hives. The hives usually hold construction cyberswarms to
assist the infantry with digging fighting positions, although pest
control swarms are sometimes more useful.
Mobility is reasonable, the robot can keep up with infantry over all
terrain, although ground pressure is too high for the Mule to operate
efficiently over snow. It floats and has a hydrojet for water propulsion
but top speed is low and the Mule has difficulty in strong currents.
Although it's primary role is transport, soldiers find lots of other
uses for the Mule. These have included recon, scouting paths for mines,
weapons carrier with a tripod blaster GPMG on the top deck and mobile
cover. The Mule is normally transported internally in the CV20 Infantry
Battle Unit and the decision to dismount with or without the Mule is
significant, while the Mule can provide useful support, it has to be
protected and an individual platoon cannot always spare a team or squad
to do this. Note that the Mule will not fit in the CV20 if the rucksack
racks are full, if the infantry need their rucksacks they dismount with
them and put them in the Mule, then they have to recover them before
mounting, which is a problem if trying to withdraw under fire.
The internal powercell provides power for 3 D 3 H of overland or 1 D
13 H 30M water travel, much longer idle times are possible. Each minute
of searchlight use drains an additional minute of endurance.
Hostile environment protection is reasonable, the Mule has a test
pressure of 12.4 atmospheres and a crush pressure of 24.8 atmospheres
and is protected against acid. Temperatures from cryogenic up to
moderately high are tolerable although Venus/Mercury conditions are not.
Very high levels of radiation are tolerable. In the Sol system the RU20
can operate on all bodies except Mercury or Venus.

Sternmetal Type 12a Minerbot v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL10)
Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer
The Sternmetal Minerbot series is used on inhospitable planets. The
Type 12a sets explosive charges, the Type 12b removes the ore and the
Type 12c lays tracks in the newly cleared tunnel. A central computer
coordinates a swarm of semi-independent robots.
The Type 12a has an articulated chassis with four tracks. It mounts
two tool arms with hydraulic drills and two manipulator arms to reach
back into the explosives compartment. Imaging radars and an inertial
tracker are used to navigate in twisting tunnels.
The power cell lasts for 325 minutes at top speed.
