A stick of dynamite with a suitable fuse attached makes a dandy grenade. No delivery method more complicated than a match and and an arm required.
A collection of dynamite sticks primed for fuse detonation are almost as dangerous to the bearers in a firefight as to the enemy. They can make effective grenades, but you can't expect to win all or even most battles with just grenades against slugthrowers.
