The idea was a quick fix/as needed or to simulate something else? Like a
meteor or like?
It was made of basically spray foam, ablative, into the shape circle
(around) and lke 1 foot deep. Sort of like a deflated basketball in shape.
With a center pole in the middle and correction rockets to keep the whole
thing up/down and not tipping over and expose the rider to plasma and like?

Those where emergency escape/landing devices. There were 'proper'
drop capsules in the Starship Troopers style as well, but grav
vehicles (like any TL9+ military aircraft) would not need them.
