Unless you want a lot of one-shot kills you will need to either
prohibit guns, or limit weapons to lower tech levels than armor.

It can be rather hard to dodge a machine-gun on full auto...

Want to allow grenades and other explosives?

If you want a good show, weapons should be limited to muscle power and
either no armor for a bloodfest, or semi-modern armor for endurance
battles...
